The Samsung Tocco Lite is another edition to the ever growing Tocco family. Recently, we have had the Tocco Ultra released onto the market, with the response being fairly mixed, mainly due to its big price tag in a time where everyone is watching their pennies.

The Tocco Lite on the other hand is designed to be affordable to the masses. Seen mainly as a rival to the LG Cookie, the Tocco Lite lacks most of the expensive features in order to drive down the price.

Like all other Tocco’s before it, the Lite is a touchscreen phone. There is a 3inch TFT screen, which is sharp and very respsonsive. Tilt the screen on its side and the accelerometer sensor kicks in to change the screen from the vertical to the horizontal. This allows for images to be shown bigger and better and also allowing to write a text more easily with a QWERTY keypad. If you like the old school way of texting, there is always the 4×3 keypad to use.

As for design, it measures 104 x 53 x 11.9 mm and only weighs 93.5 g. On the back is a 3.2 MP camera with video recording and playback. Capture those special moments with the smile detection function with the camera.

In summary, the Tocco Lite will be a success. It has everything (except 3G and Wi-Fi) that an average teenager would want. When priced correctly, it certainly will be a contender for many customers needing a new phone.

Samsung are getting around to introducing a new handset with the Android OS installed on it. From hence forth, it will be known as the i7500. Not the most imaginative of names, but the name isn’t important! This i7500 will be coming up against some pretty big guns, namely the G1, and it will be interesting to see how it will do against the more established brands.

The screen looks like it will give supurb super sharp colour. It is a 3.2 inch AMOLED touchscreen, while also having 320 x 480 pixels and an Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate. Displaying the photos taken in the 5 MP camera will certainly make them look much better due to the sharpness and quality of the both the camera and the screen.

As for the camera, is it a 5 MP as pointed out. It also has a LED flash, Geotagging and autofocus, while it also doubles up as a video recorder.

Play your own music with MP3, WMA and AAC formats compatable. However, one of the better aspects of this is the 3.5 mm headphone jack. This means you can use your own headphones and not the run of the mill headphones supplied which always destroy your ears and make you wish you didn’t buy the phone in the first place.

No news as to when its coming to Irish shores, if we hear anything, we’ll let you know!

A new edition to the Samung Touchscreen family is the Samsung S8300 UltraTOUCH. While it builds on the success of some of the older Samsung touchscreen handsets, the UltraTOUCH gorgeous looking and highly desirable phone. Samsung have put a lot of work into their user friendly user interface called TouchWiz. This allows for 3D effects, gesture controls and also a more improved version of contact details and photos.

Taking photos are also a delight. The 8MP camera gives cyrstal clear images. 8MP is just as good as most digital cameras, and allows you to capture those special moment without having to bring the digital camera around with you all day! At night or in dark conditions, use the LED flash to capture those moments.

For design and construction, the UltraTOUCH is very attractive. Slide the main screen up to reveal a numeric keypad. The keys themselves do feel nice and large while also being comfortable to press. Just below the screen their is the call and end keys and a back button, which, surpisingly brings you back one step on the menu.

The lack of Wi-Fi is probably the only downfall of this really nice phone. Dialing is pretty easy, you have two ways of doing it, either on the numeric keypad of on the touchscreen. However, there is no QWERTY keypad, which is a bit annoying especially if you are trying to text.

All in all folks, it not a bad piece of kit. Nice design, features and easy to use UI. Currently is it available on Vodafone, 3 and O2.

The Samsung i8510 INNOV8 is a high end, high tech handset. Running on the Symbian S60 platform, the Samsung i8510 INNOV8 is indeed an innovation. Samsung have really worked hard over the past couple of years and perhaps this handset is the culmination of all their hard work.

Once the main selling point for Finland’s finnest, Nokia; Samsung have gotten in on the Symbian action. Although, it is worth pointing out that this is not Samsung’s first Symbian S60 device, they way they have positioned it in terms of price and specs, it could well be one of their most successful.
