The Nokia 6303 has largely been seen as the well overdue replacement to the hugely popular 6300. While it is based mainly on its older brother, both in terms of design and software.
On first impressions, you can clearly see the similarities between the two. The 6303 measures 108.8 x 46.2 x 11.7 mm with the 6300 measuring 106.4 x 43.6 x 11.7 mm, there is very little between them in size terms. The same is also true for weight, with the 6303 only 5g heavier, which is certainly not a huge amount.

The long awaited launch of the Ovi Store, Nokia’s very own answer to the iTunes App Store has been launched. Nokia have been trying to play catch-up with Apple since the launch, and success of the iPhone, this is their attempt to innovate some of their products even further.
What Ovi offers is the opportunity of purchase and download games, applications, music, videos, podcasts and other items of interest. This can be donw by simply pointing your compatable Nokia handset to http://store.ovi.com/.

There is no word on how credit card payments can be taken for purchasing items. This will clearly need to be effortless, seeing as how easy and well established the payment process Apple has for its iTunes App Store. Also, there is no indication whether PayPal can be supported.
The Ovi service is available in Ireland. Have a go and let us know what you think.

The Nokia 7100 was released earlier this month, exclusive so far on O2. It is another affordable, made for the masses phone. The 7100 Supernova is a slide phone making the phone nice and compact, which opens up to reveal a 4×3 keypad.
This phone will not win any awards for what it can do, as its functions are fairly basic. While there is a 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth and music player; that’s about it to be honest. There is 4 MB of internal memory, but unfortunately, there is no external memory card slot so having more space for music or photos is not a possibility.

But for size, functionality and price, it is a nice little phone if you are not into all the expensive and technical features. This is not just ideal for children, but also elderly people, as with the lack of features making it less complicated for people to learnt to use.

Nokia have a 8MP camera phone coming down the track! Although 8MP camera’s are all the rage these days, with Sony Ericsson and LG both sporting handsets with the technology on board, the Nokia N86 8MP will be the first phone to sport a 28mm wide lens (a Carl Zeiss Tessar optical lens no less)!
Retailing at about €375 before taxes and usual subsidies, for your money you obviously get the 8MP, 28mm lens camera; but you also will get 2.6 inch OLED screen, 8GB of on-board internal memory, LED flash, a microSDHC card slot. Also, there is GPS and a f-stop range of 2.4-4.8.
It should be available by Q2 of 2009!

Slider or touchscreen? Unfortunately for fans of sider or touchscreen phones, this is neither. It is another low to mid range handset from Nokia, based mainly on the 6300. You can see many similarities with the 6300, how the buttons are layed out, screen etc.
There are a few improvements, such as upgrading the camera to a 3.2MP with LED Flash to say the least. Also, there is a 3.5mm audio jack, 2.2″ true color screen and all packaged in a stainless steel design. It runs on the S40 OS.
It is supposed to be out in Q2 of 2009, around the same time Nokia will get all geared up for the launch of the N97.
