LG released this handset on the Irish market a few months ago on the Three network. They seem to have recently gone mad launching nothing but touchscreen handsets for a while, with his being one in an ever growing range of handsets sporting such technology.
Undoubtedly one of its’ major features has to be its camera. The 8MP capabilities are simply awesome, offering up some great photos, being clear while ago to capture those special moments in crystal clear quality. The 3″ screen only adds to the quality of the images.
Being a big screen, there was always a fear that it may distort some of the quality of the features or even the photos you have just taken. The screen is a TFT touchscreen, 256K colors; with 240 x 400 pixels. It is also an accelerometer senso, this changes the screen automatically, changing from vertical to horizontal in a flash!
As for size, the LG Renoir is 107.8 x 55.9 x 14 mm. This doesn’t make it the chunkiest phone on the market at the minute. It can slip into any pocket, purse or bag effortlessly while not weighing you down. It weighs in at an impressive 114g. This feels nice to the feel while it also can be easily operated by just one hand.
The operating system runs on Windows Mobile. The UI is a bit more advanced than that in the LG Viewty. Scrolling is a lot smoother for example. However, the UI can be a bit sluggish, and even perhaps a bit slow. The touch interface is a lot more responsive, but perhaps not to the level of the iPhone. But LG aren’t aiming for the Renoir to be a market leader, this is an affordable handset for the masses so this has to be expected.
Other strings to impressive bow have to 3G, Wi-Fi,DivX and XviD suppor. This gives great video performance.
Positives: 8MP Camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, Design
Drawbacks: UI can be sluggish
